Hello Hornsby

Introducing ‘Hello Hornsby’, a special program of regular activities, outings, events, information sessions and workshops for Hornsby Shire residents aged 60+ years.

‘Hello Hornsby’ will create environments and opportunities where seniors can come together, meet new people, reconnect with old friends, and perhaps even try or learn something new.

The program of events will be free of charge and will be held in various locations around the Shire.

Here’s what is planned for 2024 – get involved and enjoy!

Tuesday 15 October

Our trip to Canoelands Orchard will include:

  • Transport to and from Canoelands Orchard
  • Devonshire Tea served on arrival
  • Bee Talk
  • Opportunity to:
    • Hear from the orchardists about the 100 year history of Canoelands Orchard
    • Meet horses and other farm animals
    • Have photos with nectarine blossoms in the background
    • Fruit picking * (subject to availability and conditions – to be paid by the participant)
    • Shopping in the farm stall – fresh produce made/grown on site (fruit, honey, etc)

Grandparents Day 2024

NSW Grandparents Day celebrates this unique relationship across age groups, cultural backgrounds and location.

Join us for a FREE day out!

Hello Hornsby invites Grandparents aged 60+ from Hornsby Shire to bring their grandchildren (ages 0-24) along to Koala Park on Grandparents Day (Sunday, 27 October 2024) for a special day out. Free tickets are available and can be used at Koala Park on Sunday, 27 October 2024 for entry between 9am and 11am.

Riverbaot postman cruiseTrip on the Riverboat Postman for Dementia Action Week

As part of ‘Hello Hornsby’ and in honour of Dementia Action Week 2024, we are pleased to invite people with dementia and their carers to join us on The Riverboat Postman tour for a wonderful day out.

The Riverboat Postman Tour is a 3-hour trip along the Hawkesbury River, starting and ending in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is easily accessible by train with Hawkesbury River Station adjacent to the Wharf.

Booking: Tickets are limited and bookings are essential.
