Hornsby Shire Libraries are open in accordance with the latest COVID-19 safety guidelines from NSW Government.
Our libraries are operating with limited hours, and we encourage you to use our Click & Collect service to keep your visit as brief as possible.
We are progressively increasing services and opening hours over the coming months based on advice from state and federal government.
Hornsby Shire libraries have lots of great resources and services for kids.
1000 Books Before School
The 1000 Books Before School program is an early literacy program designed to build important literacy skills prior to starting school. The program will commence on Tuesday 28 January, 2020.
Bring your pre-schooler along and enjoy stories and rhymes in Chinese/English and Korean/English followed by a fun craft activity.
Hornsby Shire Libraries run special activities during school holidays. Details of these events are provided on the Activities and Events webpage prior to each school holiday period.

The Kids and Youth eReading Room is a section of Hornsby Shire Library’s existing OverDrive website that displays eBook and eAudiobook content for children and young adults.

Premier's Reading Challenge
The Premier's Reading Challenge is open to children in years K-9.
Preschool Storytime sessions

Kids Online Counselling Helplink
Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free, 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.
This government website contains information on reporting, talking about and stopping cyberbullying.
Junior Science Club
A four week program aimed for 6 to 8 years young scientists. Participants will be able to learn and explore themes from different branches of science through numerous practical experiments.

Sessions for Year 2 – Year 4 students and Year 4 – Year 7 students.
Students learn the main programming concepts while creating their own computer games and interactive animated projects.
