Cr Tania Salitra – Greens

Tania and her partner have chosen Hornsby Shire to raise their child because of the beautiful tree canopy and access to national parks and waterways. Being passionate about protecting our environment for future generations to enjoy, she believes that every day is an opportunity to make a difference, whether it’s stopping to pick up some rubbish, pulling out a weed or speaking up for those without a voice. Even the smallest of actions can make a big impact – especially where we live. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking, bushwalking, roller skating and making clothes. As a music aficionado, Tania is a member of community radio station Triple H FM.

Priorities:

• Protecting our rural, agricultural and bush land, wildlife and waterways; improving weed control and river, creek and estuary water quality.
• A focus on sustainability and waste reduction, with climate change mitigation front and centre of all council’s decisions and actions.
• Ensuring communities feel included though community-based planning; including development being appropriate to infrastructure; affordable housing, improving footpaths and cycleways, a wider range of recreational spaces for older children, and inclusive facilities for everyone to enjoy.
• More support for local agriculture, tourism and businesses.

Background:

With a background in manufacturing production management, Tania is results driven with a focus on the right outcomes for communities. Tania has run her own business as a commercial photographer and recently completed a degree in communication. Her other qualifications include human resource management, small business management, manufacturing management, photography and fashion.
