Emma has a son at uni and a daughter at school and lives with her husband in Cheltenham. She is a life-long environmentalist; loves yoga, cooking cakes, bushwalking and swimming in the ocean, and in her spare time is learning Indonesian. This is Emma’s second term on Council. She is well known for getting the community involved in decisions, and for her commitment to keeping residents up-to-date and informed. She is proud of the program of rebates for residents who buy reusable nappy & sanitary products, as well as her campaigns to get Cherrybrook’s buses back and fair rents for community preschools. For Emma, it’s all about our kids, and making sure they have a healthy local environment, local jobs, and a safe climate.

Priorities:

  • A library for Cherrybrook and upgrades for our existing libraries
  • Strong affordable housing targets for Cherrybrook metro station and Hornsby town centre developments
  • Local jobs
  • More love and funding for our playgrounds, Nursery, community centres, waste programs and sustainability initiatives

Background

Emma has worked as a professional editor, at farmers’ markets, and in state and federal parliamentary offices. Emma has taught high school both in Australia and the United States and has written many books and online teaching resources.
