Hornsby Heritage Advisory Committee

The Hornsby Council Heritage Advisory Committee has been in operation since 1993 and is an advisory service for Council on all heritage matters.

Members of the committee are volunteers who are guided by the Hornsby Heritage Advisory Committee Charter.

Membership of the committee consists of three nominated Councillors, three technical specialists, two community representatives and three officers of Hornsby Council to provide support.

Meetings are held four times a year on a quarterly basis (March, June, September and December) and when required.

Matters considered by the committee include:

  • Endorsement and comment on projects on Council’s Strategic Planning Programme, concerning heritage conservation;
  • Endorsement of Heritage Review items;
  • Historical research and listing information on heritage listed items and conservation areas.
  • Promotional and educational material, concerning the Shire’s heritage;
  • Endorsement of heritage programming, exhibitions, education, events and promotional material;
  • Any miscellaneous ceremonies, festivals or promotional events, concerning the Shire’s heritage;
  • Assessment of applications for heritage grants, funding and financial assistance (if applicable); and
  • Any other matters as agreed by the Manager, Strategic Planning and the Chairperson.
