Know Total Fire Bans

Total fire bans infographic

Total Fire Bans (TFB or TOBAN) tell you what you can and can’t do and what activities are banned on certain days during high fire risk months. Bush fires are more likely to spread and cause damage on days when the weather is very hot, dry and windy. These are usually on days when the fire danger rating is Extreme or Catastrophic.

On the days when TFB is declared in our fire weather area, i.e. Greater Sydney Region, you are not allowed to light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire, e.g. cooking on a wood-fired barbeque, welding or even slashing of your property.
