Ron Payne Park Oval Drainage Works
Background
In April 2025, Ron Payne Park Oval underwent major upgrades, including regrading with a new turf surface, installation of new irrigation lines, and construction of both primary and secondary drainage systems. At that time, the tertiary drainage works were deferred until the turf had become fully established. To avoid an extended closure of the oval, Council reopened the facility to clubs and the community with the tertiary drainage still pending.
Now that the turf has sufficiently established, Council is proceeding with the construction of the tertiary drainage network to complete the sportsfield drainage system and ensure its full functionality. These works have been scheduled to occur during the sports season changeover period to minimise disruption to users.
Key dates
- Commencement date: Monday, 1 September 2025
- Work hours: 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
- Expected completion: Late October 2025 (weather permitting)
During construction
- The oval will be closed and unavailable for all users.
- A section of the car park will also be closed to facilitate construction.
- The public toilets, children’s play area, remaining car park, and access to the National Park will remain open, and Council will monitor usage throughout the works.
