Hornsby Art Prize Local Artist Award
David Collins
In 2024 David Collins won the Hornsby Art Prize Local Artist Award, with his painting Barrier Range. The award was given to the artist that produced the most outstanding work in any category and was a resident of the Hornsby Shire.
David Collins is a landscape painter who has lived on the Hawkesbury River since 1987. Rowing the river and painting or drawing from its shores has been a major influence on his work over this time. Collins has exhibited an extensive body of work since the early 90’s and has been the recipient of a number of notable artist residencies including the Australian Wildlife Conservancy Residency, Mt Zero, QLD and Nock Art Foundation Residency, Queenstown, New Zealand. He has also been selected as a finalist in numerous awards including the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of NSW, where he was awarded Highly Commended (2013). He is represented by Defiance Gallery in Paddington, Sydney.

Sightlines celebrates Hornsby Shire artists David Collins and Sally Stokes. An exhibition of paintings and drawings featuring Hornsby Shire’s waterways and bushland.
Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 4pm. Free entry.
