Lower McKell Park (Stage 1)
Park Upgrade – Lower McKell Park, Brooklyn, Stage 1
The park upgrade provides improved picnic facilities and improved accessibility to the park.
Completed works include:
- New picnic shelters and park furniture and drinking fountain along existing bushland/cliff edge.
- Passive recreational areas comprising informal seating areas, mature trees, daybeds and grassed areas along foreshore.
- Rationalising of waste collection and lighting in the park.
Future works include:
- Sealed shared path connection to Parsley Bay
- Beach access upgrade including ramps, steps and outdoor shower
- Provision of universal access change rooms and toilets in existing amenities building
Update December 2021
Upgrade works have been completed and the park will be open to community from late December.
Update October 2021
Installation of sandstone logs, mature fig trees, shelters, concrete surrounds for seats to eastern side of amenities building has been completed. Planting and installation, park furniture to be undertaken in early November.
