James Henty Oval Sportsground Lighting
Council is proposing to install new lighting at the sportsground and car park of James Henty Oval, Dural. The project will enable James Henty Oval to be used for winter football training for a maximum of three nights per week (excluding Sundays and public holidays) limited to 8.30pm.
The proposal is intended to alleviate demand for football training at Edward Bennett Oval, Thomas Thompson Oval, John Purchase Oval and Campbell Park which are currently operating above capacity. Demand for greater use of existing sportsgrounds is being generated in part by the increase in female participation in sports such as football. Proposed works will include the installation of new LED lighting to the sportsground and car park.
The installation of lighting at James Henty Oval is identified in Council’s Sportsground Strategy as a way of meeting the growing demand for football training facilities.
