Shared Path – Edgeworth David Avenue and Palmerston Road

Proposed Shared Path – Edgeworth David Avenue and Palmerston Road between Romsey Street and Hornsby Hospital, in Hornsby and Waitara.

The project involves removal of the existing footpath and constructing a new 2.5m wide shared path.

The aim of these works is to encourage residents to adopt healthier lifestyles, enjoy the natural environment, and to help reduce traffic congestion and emissions through increased walking and cycle activity. It is also aimed to provide cycle and pedestrian connectivity between local centres and to improve links to stations and local destinations, such as between Hornsby CBD, Hospital and Waitara Public School.

Construction works are scheduled to commence early June 2021 and work is expected to take 18 weeks to complete (subject to inclement weather).

Proposed construction works are expected to cause some temporary disruption and inconvenience, mainly with regard to construction noise, storage of construction materials and sheds in road reserve, and short-term loss of on-street parking.
