Hornsby Commuter Car Park

Transport for NSW is delivering the Hornsby Commuter Car Park with around 140 parking spaces to provide you with more convenient access to public transport and to help ease the congestion on our roads.

What’s planned?

Hornsby Commuter Car Park - Artist ImpressionThe Hornsby Commuter Car Park on Jersey Street will feature:

  • a new at-grade car park with around 140 parking spaces
  • entry and exit to the car park from Jersey Street
  • additional accessible parking spaces
  • dedicated pathways connecting to the existing footpath along Jersey Street
  • provision for future electric vehicle charging spaces
  • Transport Park and Ride infrastructure (Opal operated boom gates)
  • CCTV, lighting and wayfinding signage for improved safety and security
  • landscaping within the new car park.

Site establishment

In mid-February, site establishment work will begin to take place for the new commuter car park in Hornsby.
Construction activities in February will include:

  • site inspections and investigations
  • surveying of land and inspection of inground services
  • site establishment
  • setting up a site compound on the corner of Jersey and Coronation Streets
  • utility service investigations and disconnections
  • clearing the site and the demolition of existing services

The equipment used during the work will include vacuum trucks, excavators, surveying equipment and hand tools.

Our work schedule

We will be on site from Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays.

We will contact you to advice of any work required outside these hours.

How will our work affect you?

Our work may be noisy at times, and we have put measures in place to reduce the impact of this noise, including turning equipment off when not in use and using non-tonal reversing beepers for trucks used on the site.

This work is in line with the current Public Health Orders and a COVID Safety Plan is in place, including QR codes and masks.

From Thursday 17 February, up to 19 commuter car parking spaces will be temporarily unavailable within the existing Jersey Street Car Park to allow for the construction of the new commuter car park to progress.
