Excitement was in the air at the official unveiling of new upgrades at Beecroft Village Green on Sunday, 4 August when the community came together to celebrate the new facilities.

Designed as a community open space with opportunities for play, exercise, recreation and social gatherings, Beecroft Village Green also includes much welcomed activity opportunities for older children and teens.

There is a new basketball half court, and new playground equipment which includes nature play with balance beams, swings, a hammock, adventure play equipment for older children, and toddler play equipment.

New outdoor exercise equipment was delivered with support from the NSW Government through a Community Building partnership grant, which, combined with new BBQ facilities, accessible toilets, and a picnic and recreation area, has turned Beecroft Village Green into a place the whole family can enjoy.

“Beecroft Village Green is of local heritage significance, dating back to 1886 when it was marked ‘reserve’ on a map,” said Hornsby Shire Council’s General Manager, Steven Head.

“We are so proud to provide this upgraded facility for the community so it can continue to be a cherished space for recreation and spending time together for another 100 years.”

Over 135 local people were involved in community consultation in 2022, expressing their desire to see the site develop as a community open space with opportunities for play, exercise, recreation and social gatherings. The information received from the community was used to develop the vision and Master Plan for the park and the result is a fantastic new space for the community to gather.
