Want to practice a sustainable and low-waste Christmas? Get involved and learn the Japanese art-form of Furoshiki, a traditional fabric wrapping technique.
On average, Australians tend to purchase single-use wrapping paper rather than reusable gift bags, leading to a significant increase in waste during the festive season. This year, be waste-wise by swapping out single-use plastic for a reusable fabric wrap.
In this workshop, you’ll learn about the history of Furoshiki, the Mottainai philosophy, and how recycled fabrics and repurposed bags can be remade into a low-waste gift. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get creative with old fabric and forgotten cloths tucked away in your cupboard. The workshop will include one Furoshiki cloth to take home.
Booking is essential, Free to Hornsby Shire residents.
