LIES MY MIRROR TOLD ME

A frank, funny, and fearless memoir about overcoming adversity.

About the author/book

In a career spanning four decades, Wendy has found success as a journalist, columnist, radio broadcaster, TV host, author, playwright and comic performer. She was a headliner on radio 2Day FM’s ‘Morning Crew’ and co-presenter of ABC Radio Sydney morning/breakfast.

Many don’t know the story of Wendy’s complicated childhood. After her mother left her father and her 3 younger siblings, her father had to raise four children on his own. Wendy became somewhat of a surrogate mother to her siblings. As her father moved around the state to take up new postings as headmaster, Wendy, as the “funny looking” kid and often in the wrong school uniform, developed strategies to find new friends and fit in.

Despite all the initial setbacks and emotional turmoil, she carved her own way in the world. A former political journalist, Wendy ran away with the circus in the 80s and forged a career in comedy at the Edinburgh Festival, on stages in Ireland, the US and all over Australia.
