Remagine Art Prize 2023 winner announced
The winner of the Remagine Art Prize 2023 has been announced, with Canberra glass artist Jennifer Kemarre Martiniello taking out the first prize of $5,000 for her sculpture, Not Wasted, made from recycled television screens. Of Arrernte (Australian Central Desert), Chinese and Anglo-Celtic descent, Martiniello embraces 60,000 years of Indigenous Australian culture through her identity and the medium of glass. -

Hornsby Shire opposes damaging increases in emergency services levy costs
At its General Meeting held yesterday, Hornsby Shire Council adopted a special Mayoral Minute outlining its strong opposition to the NSW Government’s last-minute decision to impose an enormous Emergency Services Levy (ESL) cost increase on councils for 2023/24. By scrapping the ESL subsidy, this will impact Council’s budget by $1.8 million. -

Visit the Remagine Art Prize 2023 exhibition to discover a ‘Wasteland or Wonderland’
Over 60 unique artworks focusing on sustainability, waste and the environment will be shortlisted in Hornsby Shire Council’s Remagine 2023 Art Prize. The finalist works of digital art stills, sculpture, mixed media, painting, photography, drawing, ceramics, and printmaking will be on exhibition at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, Hornsby from 18 May to 4 June. -

River councils reach important milestone in the future management of the Hawkesbury Nepean River System
A multi-council project to prepare a Coastal Management Program (CMP) ensuring sustainable and strategic long-term management of the Hawkesbury Nepean River System has gained significant momentum thanks to a $432,000 grant from the NSW Government, allowing it to move into its next stages.
