Upgraded Lessing Park open for business
Hornsby Shire Council’s upgrade of Lessing Park is complete, on schedule and in time for the school holidays.
The park in Hornsby has now been open for more than a week and the feedback from users has been overwhelmingly positive.
Asquith mother Beth Vallely was among the first to take advantage, with her five-year-old son Jack.
“I think the park is great, it’s vastly improved, and I think it is good for kids of all ages, especially for medium sized children like my son,” Mrs Vallely said.
The improvements included new play equipment and a natural log play area, as well as sandstone walls, paving and new planted areas.
The toddler bike riding area is still there, though it has been repaired to create a smooth surface.
The barbecue has been replaced by a new picnic shelter and refurbished picnic tables.
It certainly got the thumbs up from Jack and the other children who were having a great time playing at the park when Council staff dropped by to see what locals thought of the improvements.
Mrs Vallely said, “We like the natural wooden designs, it just looks lovely and there are plenty of things to do such as swings, the climbing wall and different slide.”
The upgrade cost $200,000.
