Help us plant some trees.
Little and big hands are needed for a School Holiday Tree Planting at Hornsby’s Ginger Meggs Park next week.
“We especially want children to be involved because we are planting Blue Gums, huge trees that can live for two centuries or more,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock said.
“It’s going to be very special for young people to watch these beautiful trees grow over the coming decades, then bring their great grandchildren to the site and say, ‘I did that’.”
Volunteers will only need to bring a hat, gloves and water – Council will provide the rest.
“This is part of Hornsby Shire Council’s ambitious effort to plant 25,000 new trees by September 2020,” Mayor Ruddock said.
“So far it is going well, with almost 1,200 trees already planted in 19 locations.
“It simply wouldn’t be possible without the help of the hundreds of selfless volunteers who have stepped forward.
“I thank each of them for their work so far and I invite all members of the community to join them.”
