Hornsby tackles art Head On

Publish date:

On Friday night Hornsby Shire’s cultural aficionados came together for the official opening of Council’s latest two exhibitions, by local artists Lidia Mincev and David Starr.

The exhibitions are part of the national Head On Photo Festival and currently showing at the Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre.

Mayor Philip Ruddock was among more than 100 guests and was highly impressed.

“The best art is always that which gives you something unexpected,” Mayor Ruddock said.

“When I heard about David Starr’s photos of Old Mans Valley I expected panoramic views, but instead it displays microscopic insights into the actual plants – it was fascinating.

“Meanwhile, Lidia Mincev’s performance piece that accompanied her artistic collage was an eye-opening experience.”

The local Head On Photo Festival exhibitions are showing at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, 25 Edgeworth David Ave, Hornsby, until Sunday 27 May.
