Publish date:

Pencil, paint, clay, ink or digital - whatever tickles your muse, now is the time to get creative as the Hornsby Art Prize is open for submissions.

The Hornsby Art Prize is an annual art competition and exhibition promoting and celebrating outstanding local artists.

This year the competition has a total prize pool valued at over $23,000, with the major prize worth $10,000.

Artists are invited to submit works in the following categories: painting, printmaking, drawing and 3D works.

For the first time the Hornsby Art Prize will also include digital art stills.

Entries are open until 31 July 2018 and submissions are to be made online. Entry costs $40.

The non-acquisitive prize, organised and sponsored by Hornsby Shire Council and delivered in partnership with the Hornsby Art Society, is open to all Australian residents aged 18 years and over.

Eligible entrants will also be considered for the Hornsby Shire Emerging Artist and the Wallarobba Outstanding Local Artist Awards.

The Hornsby Art Prize Finalists’ Exhibition will be held at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre in October, as part of the annual Hornsby Shire Festival of the Arts.
