Hornsby Shire Council is pleased to announce that submissions are again open for its Community Event Grants Program, with more than $17,000 on offer for events in the local community.

Not-for-profit organisations located within the Hornsby Shire Local Government Area (LGA) are encouraged to apply for funding that will be made available to support local community events.

The Community Event Grants Program aims to promote active participation of residents in community initiatives, and to encourage community-based organisations to develop and run sustainable events in the Shire.

Hornsby Shire Council Mayor the Hon Philip Ruddock AO said Council remains committed to supporting local events, which will ensure residents feel engaged and connected in the community.

“Not-for-profit and community organisations play a big role in making our Shire the vibrant and friendly place that it is,” said Mayor Ruddock.

“I’m thrilled that Council is able to offer support to them with this program, to further enhance inclusion and resilience. I encourage local not-for-profits of any kind to apply for this financial assistance on offer.”

$17,638 will be available through a Place Activation Grant funding pool. Cash funding, in kind support and sponsorship are available up to a total value of $3,000 per annum, per applicant organisation. These grants are designed to be a one-off only. Events must be held prior to 31 December 2024.

Previous recipients of the Community Grants Program include the likes of the Berowra Fauna Fair and Chinese Australia Services Society Migrants Information Day.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 31 January at 5pm.
