Guided Bushwalks and Events

Join one of Council’s free guided bushwalks and events this Autumn, Winter, or Spring. Professional guides and organisers will provide you with fascinating insights into the natural and cultural history of the Bushland Shire. Whether you prefer an easy stroll, a challenging hike, or something for the kids, there’s bound to be an event for you!

Please note: These events are provided for Hornsby Shire residents only. Bookings are essential and open a month before each walk. To cancel a booking, please email bushland@hornsby.nsw.gov.au as soon as possible so we can inform those on the waitlist. Please note: Residents are limited to six (6) walks per program.

Wild Investigators Activity 7-12yrs, Fagan Park

This safari will take you on a 2 km easy journey through the northern section of Fagan Park. The young ecologists will use dip nets and other survey methods to explore nature.

Sphinx to Bobbin Head bushwalk, North Turramurra

Crosslands Reserve to Rockyfall Rapids Bushwalk, Hornsby Heights. This is a six hour (10km) challenging circuit walk along the Sphinx Track, Warrimoo Track and Bobbin Head Trail in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

This one and a half hour (2 km) circuit has occasional, short, steep sections and uneven steps. Discover the lovely environment of the Hawkesbury River and the hidden gems of Parsley Bay, Flat Rock Point and McKell Park.

This popular three-hour 15-minute (5.7 km), moderately challenging bushwalk in the upper valleys of Lane Cove National Park showcases a rich variety of birdlife and wildflowers.

Deep Bay Creek Bushwalk, Berowra Heights
From ridgetops with stunning views across Berowra Waters, to the unspoilt valley floor of Deep Bay Creek, this fascinating 2 hour (4.2 km) circuit walk is rich in natural history.

Smugglers Ridge Bushwalk, Fiddletown
Discover the beauty of Marramarra National Park on this six-hour (13 km), challenging walk. Enjoy scenic views, Aboriginal and historic heritage, colourful wildflowers and a picnic lunch by the creek before returning to the car.
