Proposed Footpath Improvements - 2026/27 Program

Hornsby Shire Council recognises walking as an important recreational and social activity for all residents, regardless of age or ability. Council is committed to improving walking facilities within the Local Government Area (LGA) of Hornby. To deliver on this, it is proposed for new footpaths to be constructed within the LGA in accordance with the adopted Hornsby Shire Council 2026-2030 Delivery Program including the Operational Plan 2026/27 and the Walking and Cycling Strategy.

New footpaths are proposed for following locations in the 2026/27 financial year:

  • Beecroft, Kirkham St - Missing link to local road
  • Berowra, High St - RFS to school (completed)
  • Wisemans Ferry, between Community Centre and RFS
  • Berowra Heights, Wyanna St - Easton Rd to Barnetts Rd
  • Dural, (St Judes Anglican Church) The Terrace Galston Rd to Intersection
  • Hornsby, Old Berowra Rd - link road to No.51
  • Hornsby, Rosemead Rd - Valley Rd to Hornsby Park
  • Hornsby Heights, Galston Rd - Cawthorne St to Grevillea Cres
  • Pennant Hills, Shields Ln - Willis Ave to Werona St
  • Pennant Hills, Warne St - No.29 to Weemala Rd
  • Thornleigh, Cavendish St - Albion St to Pailing St
  • Thornleigh, Vale Rd - Wareemba Ave to Norman Ave
  • Wahroonga, Woolcott Ave - school to Driveaway 4A
  • Westleigh, Corang Rd - Quarter Sessions Rd to Eucalyptus Dr
  • Westleigh, Quarter Sessions Rd - Duffy Ave to Bottlebrush Rd

Completed footpath projects in the 2025/26 financial year:

  • Berowra, Kwyong Rd - Yallambee Rd to Redwood Ave
  • Berowra, Yallambee Rd - Yallambee Rd to Kwyong Rd
  • Pennant Hills, Bellamy St - Stevens St to end (North)
  • Cherrybrook, Purchase Rd - Beechwood Pde to Kentia Pde
  • Hornsby, Ida St - Sutton St to school (East side)
  • Normanhurst, Willowtree Rd - Calga Ave to Pine Pl
  • North Epping, Boundary Rd - Downes St intersection to bus stop

Works typically include construction of concrete footpath and kerb ramps. Please note repair of driveways or construction of new driveways are not typically included in the scope of works. Please refer to Council’s webpage for Vehicular Crossing for further information on the process of constructing a driveway.

Final approval for these works will be dependent on the availability of funds, community responses and any change of project priorities.
