Community interest development
Residential Subdivision – 79–87 Malton Road, Beecroft
Subdivision works at 79–87 Malton Road, Beecroft are scheduled to commence shortly.
This development, approved under Development Application No. 94/2013 by the Land and Environment Court, allows for the creation of five residential lots.
Council acknowledges that there is community apprehension regarding the significant vegetation and tree removal that is approved to be undertaken at the site. However, Council is unable to prevent these works from occurring.
Given the significance of the works, Council officers have met with representatives of the owner and reminded them of the approved conditions of consent.
Pleasingly, as part of the approval, Council was able to secure the dedication of more than half of the area of the site behind the proposed new lots to Council as bushland reserve.
What works will be undertaken?
The works approved under the development consent include:
- The removal of a significant number of trees and vegetation at the front of the site along Malton Road, largely within the building envelopes for future dwellings and the driveway area on the five residential lots.
- The construction of a shared driveway across the five residential lots.
- The construction of drainage pits and lines to manage stormwater across the five residential lots.
- Works to Malton Road to realign the road and kerb.
Some of these works may require the full or partial closure of Malton Road and traffic control measures to manage public access.
Who will be involved in the development?
Council has been appointed as the Principal Certifying Authority for the development.
A Project Arborist, Ecologist and Bush Regeneration Consultant have been appointed to oversee elements of the development.
A Principal Contractor will be appointed for the civil works.
