Fagan Park

• Enjoy a picnic or barbecue, with a number of shelters and electric barbecues scattered throughout the grounds.
• Explore the Gardens of Many Nations, which covers 10 hectares and has 11 themed gardens, including Japanese, Dutch, Chinese and Mediterranean.
• Learn more about local history at Netherby Cottage, the original Fagan family homestead, and the adjoining museum.
• Let the kids run free at the two large playgrounds, while there’s also plenty of open space for kite flying and other games.
• Discover the new Children’s Forest where kids can learn all about trees.
• Take in the local bushland along a short bushwalking trail.
• Jump on a bike and explore the grounds along the bicycle paths.
• Hiring one of the five large picnic shelters is perfect for small informal gatherings. Some gardens are available for wedding ceremony hire (see Weddings Tab for more information).
• Learn about sustainable gardening at the Eco Garden.
• Take your dog for a walk, however dogs must remain on a lead at all times.

Accessible / Disabled Toilets

There are two accessible / disabled toilets located at Fagan Park:

• One is located at the Arcadia Road main amenities block; and
• The other is located at the Carrs Road amenities block.

BBQs

Small portable barbeques including charcoal are permitted under the following conditions:

• BBQs must be in good working order
• Portable barbeques must be a minimum of 50cm from ground level. Barbeques that sit on the ground are strictly prohibited.
• When using a portable barbeque be sure all parts of the unit are firmly in place and that the grill is stable. Never leave a lit barbeque unattended.
• Users are encouraged to have water on hand to extinguish fires or in case of minor burns.
• Barbeques during total fire bans are not permitted. Before bringing your barbeque to the Park please check the Fire Danger Rating with the NSW Rural Fire Service.
• All waste must be disposed of appropriately.
• The dumping of coals may result in penalties. Coal bins have been installed in various spots in Fagan Park.
• Council will take steps to recoup costs should damage occur to the Park or reserve as a result of bringing your own barbeque.

Portable Shade Shelters

• Portable (domestic) shade structures and sun shelters are permitted if they do not require pegs into the ground (i.e. secured by weights only). They are only allowed for the time of the booking (no set up allowed) the day prior.
• No marquees are allowed.

Amusement Device Activity Form

Fagan Park was originally owned by the Fagan family and operated as an orchard and cattle farm. The site was donated by the Fagan family to the Department of Lands, with Hornsby Shire Council appointed as sole trustee for the park.

The park was adopted as Council's bicentennial project and was officially opened in November, 1988.

Fagan Park is open every day, except Christmas Day from 7am until 5.30pm (or 6.30pm during daylight saving). There are two car park areas, the main carpark entrance is located off Arcadia Road and another carpark off Carrs Road.

Parking costs $7.00/per motor vehicle.

Both the Arcadia Road and Carrs Road carparks each have two Pay and Display Ticket machines (PDTM): All machines accept credit card payments with one machine at each car park accepting both card and coin. Please note no change is provided if paying via coin.

When parking in the Fagan Park carparks you must display a valid day pay and display ticket (PDT) printed side face up on the vehicle’s dashboard or a current annual car parking permit sticker fixed to a section of untinted window on the right-hand side of the vehicle (fines apply).

Annual Fagan Park car parking permit (online application required)

To be eligible to apply for an annual permit you must have a valid Hornsby Shire residential address.

The annual permit allows access to both Arcadia Rd and Carrs Rd carparks and is only available for private vehicles up to 8 seats or a motorcycle.

Annual permit costs $50 per privately-owned motor vehicle (up to 8 seats) or motorcycle/per annum.

Please note that the permit is for one vehicle registration only.

Please allow 10 days for processing your permit application. Permits together with the annual permit sticker are forward by post.

Fagan Park has five large picnic shelters available for hire. The shelters are perfect for events such as family reunions, birthday parties, Christmas parties, school outings and company picnics. Each booking costs $168 per day or part of a day. Requests for amusements such as jumping castles and bubble soccer require lodging an amusement device application (fees apply).

Arcadia Rd, Shelter 1

This shelter is surrounded by trees and is located close to toilets and the Arcadia Rd car park.

Capacity:

There is seating for 36 adults or 48 children, with extra room to accommodate a total of about 60 people.

This shelter is particularly suitable for children's birthday parties as it is located next to the large playground and close to toilets.

Capacity: There is seating for up to 18 adults, with plenty of extra space to spread out.

Wedding Photos

Fagan Park provides various stunning backdrops for your wedding photos. By making a booking, you can use the garden areas in Fagan Park, provided there is no other booking taking place in that location. Bookings are for a two-hour block only.

Wedding photo bookings are available between 9am and 3.30pm. Arrangements can be made for bookings later in the afternoon during daylight saving, however this may require an additional fee.

Gardens for weddings

Fagan Park has many different gardens that are ideal for wedding ceremonies. Bookings are for a two-hour block only and are available between 9am and 3.30pm on weekdays and 10am to 3.30pm on weekends. Bookings are for the ceremony only. Bookings for after-wedding gatherings and other events including receptions and parties are not available.

African Garden

This large garden features a replica African mud hut and a variety of African plants from arid through to jungle regions. There are several timber bench seats within the garden and picnic tables nearby.

This garden features a pagoda and a bridge over a large water lily pond. There is seating for 4 people on the bridge, and picnic tables nearby.

This large cottage style garden features a pergola and formal lawn suitable for wedding ceremonies. It is located adjacent to the lake. There are 6 bench seats spread throughout the garden.

The Lake area features a wharf suitable for wedding ceremonies with a covered section for wet weather shelter. There is also a large grassed area with several bench seats.
