Parks Week Walk – Caring for Nature
Next date: Friday, 06 March 2026 | 09:30 AM
to 12:00 PM
All guided bushwalks are for Hornsby Shire residents only.
This 2.5 hour (4.6km) walk, starting at Beecroft Station and finishing at Cheltenham Station, will explore how nature is cared for in our local parks and reserves.
You will learn about the remnant Sydney Turperntine-Ironbark Forest in Beecroft Village Green and meet the dedicated Bushcare volunteers in Chilworth Reserve. Crossing Kirkham Street, we explore the bushland around Cheltenham Oval and learn about the rare plants being protected there. The park and reserve exploration ends at Lyne Rd Reserve, followed by a walk through pleasant, tree-lined streets to Cheltenham Station.
Walk Grade: 2.5 (easy to moderately challenging)
Suitability: Recommended for adults, teens, and older children (7+ years) with a basic level of fitness and bushwalking experience. Younger children unused to bushwalking might find it tough.
Supervision: Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
