This popular 3 hour (6.2 km) walk in the upper reaches of Lane Cove National Park showcases a rich variety of birdlife and wildflowers. Along the iconic sandstone ridges many small birds such as honeyeaters, wattlebirds, and wrens may be seen, and native flowers abound. In the Devlins and Byles Creek valleys we may be lucky enough observe the resident Powerful Owl. And who will be the first to spot the whale?
Walk Grade: 3 (moderately challenging to challenging) - sections of trail are hilly, steep and rough, with the occasional shallow creek crossing.
Suitability of walk: Adults and older teens (16-19 years) with a little bushwalking experience and a moderate level of fitness. Not suitable for children.
Nearest train station to meeting point: Pennant Hills train station is a 15 min (1km) walk.
Please note: It might be worth bringing a spare pair of socks as some of the creeks crossings may get your feet wet. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
