  • The relevant software or app installed on your device

How long can I borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks for?

Up to three weeks through OverDrive and two weeks through Bolinda/BorrowBox. When using Bolinda/BorrowBox you can renew the loan twice.

Are there any overdue or reservation fees?

No, it is a free service.

How many titles are on each service?

How do I begin borrowing from OverDrive?

That depends on the device you use to read the eBooks.

If you’re a first time user on a mobile device we recommend that you use Libby. Existing users can continue to use the OverDrive App or switch to Libby. Please note that any titles downloaded via the OverDrive App cannot be returned via Libby.

Libby is the new eBook and eAudiobook app from OverDrive. You just need your library card and password to get started. No Adobe ID or additional registration with OverDrive is required.

Multiple library accounts can be registered with the app, so there is no need to log out and log in when using different accounts.

Libby can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Windows Store.

For further information about Libby, please visit https://help.libbyapp.com or contact your nearest Hornsby Shire Library

For information about the OverDrive App read the OverDrive App instruction booklet

If you’re using a computer read the OverDrive software instruction booklet

If a title is unavailable you can place a reservation. This is free of charge but will count against your loan limit.

Chinese language eBooks and eAudiobooks are now available through OverDrive. If you are new to OverDrive please read the instructions (available via the hyperlink below) for getting started.
