Hornsby Shire Council has the responsibility for managing many aspects of environmental health within the Shire.
PESTICIDE USE NOTIFICATION PLAN
The Pesticide Use notification Plan has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Pesticides Regulation 1995 (the Regulation).
The Plan sets out how Hornsby Shire Council will notify members of the community of pesticide applications it makes or allows to be made to public places that it owns or controls.
Council will ensure that pesticides applied to public areas are done so in a safe, responsible manner that minimises harm to the community and the environment.

INTENTION TO USE FIREWORKS
The Department of Local Government has distributed a circular to councils titled Guidelines for Council when Notification is Received of an Intention to use Fireworks is Received.
The Guideline sets out how Hornsby Shire Council may impose conditions on an applicant’s use of fireworks.
The WorkCover website contains guidelines, forms and information about the operational conditions for fireworks displays. This information can be found at www.workcover.nsw.gov.au (Publications/licensing, registration and notification/dangerous goods, explosives, fireworks and pyrotechnics.)
Council will work with WorkCover to ensure that fireworks displays are conducted in a safe and responsible manner that minimises harm to the community and the environment.
