Important information about your collection service

Place your bin out the night before your collection day.

Do not overfill your bin. If the bin is too heavy the truck will not be able to lift it, or if you squash the rubbish into the bin too much, it may not fall out when it is raised above the truck.

Do not place extra bags or bundles next to or on top of your bin. They will not be collected.

Make sure the lids of the bins close completely. If the lid of the bin is open, or rubbish is overflowing out of the bin, this encourages possums, dogs and other scavengers to forage in the garbage, creating a big mess along the street.

Make sure the truck will be able to access your bins. Line your bins up along the kerb, facing the road and space them about 30cm apart. Avoid overhanging trees and parked cars.

Ensure your bin is Council issued (Council bins have the Hornsby Shire Council Logo on the front) and that the correct bin type is placed by the kerb for that week's collection.

See the table below to find out how to sort your waste into the correct bins.
