Composting and worm farming
Did you know food waste is one of the biggest waste components in your red bin? NSW households throw away more than 8000,000 tonnes of food per year. Instead of throwing away food waste, compost it. The Love Food Hate Waste website offers tips on avoiding food waste.
Compost bins and worm farms are an excellent way to reduce your waste and improve the fertility of your garden’s soil.
However if food, vegetable scraps, tea bags, vacuum cleaner dust, tissues and paper towels are unavoidable, they can be turned into rich organic fertiliser for your garden and save space in landfill.
To see working models of a compost bin and a worm farm, or for further information on eco-gardening visit us at the Fagan Park Eco Garden.

Reduce Food Waste
Wasting food wastes the energy, water and natural resources used to grow, package, transport and market that food. Sad isn't it?
