What is Biodiversity?
This short presentation explores biodiversity and the food web. It can be part of an Environment Day or as a one off session. (Maximum 3 schools per year and maximum of 30 students.)

Bushwalk or Guided Site Tour
Student walks and tours can be tailored to curriculum needs. (Maximum 30 students + 2 teachers. Requires one month notice, based on staff availability. Maximum 3 schools per year and maximum of 30 students.)

Satellite Seeds and Seedling Program
Grow seedlings for your school and the ecogarden. Learn about seeds and how they grow. Have fun making origami pots to grow your seeds in. Observe the seeds develop and record their growth. For further information please contact the Waste Hotline on 9847 4856 or email waste@hornsby.nsw.gov.au.

Vegetation or Tree Audit
Council staff can survey vegetation on school grounds if required for a Development Application or Tree Preservation Order. (Requires one month notice, based on staff availability.)

National Tree Day - July
Schools across the shire are offered up to 20 native plants each to plant on this day. (If limited plant stock, restrictions will apply.)

What is Bush Regeneration and Bushcare?
This tailored presentation and/or field tour introduces secondary and TAFE students to bushland and bushcare programs.

Biodiversity Audit
Food web talk and audit of plants and animals. School must incorporate the findings into their Schools Environmental Management Plan. (Requires one month notice, based on staff availability. Maximum 3 schools per year and maximum of 30 students.)

Planting Days
Council will assist with supervised planting on school grounds or council land. (Requires one month notice, based on staff availability.)

Bushcare Program
Council provides guidance to teachers and parents wishing to commit to long term restoration of existing bush on school grounds. Includes initial site assessment and help with bush management plans. Initial training for staff and parents and some tools on loan. Not always suitable for children under 16. (Requires one month notice, based on staff availability. Maximum 3 schools per year and maximum of 30 students.)

This collection of information for school assignments includes: native species lists, vegetation studies information, and reserve specific information. It can be supplied by email or post, and can also be found on our website.
