Bushwalks
Hornsby Shire Council's mission statement commits Council to enhancing the quality of life and environment in the Bushland Shire.
As residents and visitors of the Shire, we are surrounded by beautiful bushland, national parks, recreation areas and scenic waterways.
Hornsby Shire covers a total of 51,000 hectares of which approximately 67% is bushland, making the opportunity for bushwalking and natural experiences enormous. Of the bushland in the Shire, 52% is managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and 17% is managed by Council. With 6,000 hectares of open space bushland in the Shire, it is considered to be the largest bushland area in NSW under a single Council's control.
Information about Council's Free Guided Bushwalks Program and other walking tracks can be found by clicking here, or by phoning Bushland & Biodiversity on 9847 6832.
