Are you passionate about arts and culture? Do you have ideas about how you’d like to see the arts grow in Hornsby Shire?

We are conducting a survey about arts and culture in Hornsby Shire and we want your feedback. Just by completing the survey, you will go into the draw to win free movie tickets.

The plan will help us in developing our 2011-2015 Hornsby Shire Cultural Plan.

Since the adoption of our 2008-2010 Cultural Plan in August of 2008, arts and cultural development in Hornsby Shire has undergone considerable growth and change. Notably, Council has now established the Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre in Hornsby and the Hornsby Shire Festival of the Arts has become one of the largest of its kind in Australia.

The survey is open until Friday 17 February 2012.


'Returned to Glory' Recycled Art Competition

Entries for the 2012 'Returned To Glory' Recycled Art Competition are now open. The competition and exhibition celebrates the re-use and recycling of waste in the Hornsby Shire area through art. More than $5,000 in prizes will be awarded to the winners. Entries close on Monday 23 April 2012.

2011 Hornsby Art Prize

The winner of the 2011 Hornsby Art Prize Carla Hananiah with 'My Delight'The Hornsby Art Prize is the annual visual arts award sponsored by Hornsby Shire Council.  Through the Hornsby Art Prize, Council aims to encourage and inspire artists from our local creative community, greater Sydney and from all over Australia!

The winners of the Hornsby Art Prize were announced at a special awards night in November 2011. Congratulations to this year's winners and thank you to everyone who participated in the competition. The winner of the 2011 Hornsby Art Prize (overall winner) is Carla Hananiah for My Delight.

Hornsby Shire Festival of the Arts 2011

More than 280 arts and cultural events were held during the festival between Saturday 22 October and Sunday 27 November. Thanks to everyone who took part in this year's festival!


Free Friday printmakers’ open studio

The Wallarobba printmaking studio is open for free access to the public from 9.30am to 4.30pm every Friday. For more information, please call Council's Arts Desk on 9847 6893.
