Waste Working Group - Community Representatives

Participate in the development of the Shire’s New Waste Strategy

Council is seeking four (4) Community Representatives to join its’ Waste Working Group to provide balanced and representative community input and views into the development of a new Waste Strategy for Hornsby Shire. The new Waste Strategy will provide a strategic framework on advancing waste management, resource recovery and recycling within the Shire over the next five years. It will consider key issues such as how to avoid making waste, how to further reduce our waste to landfill, how we might manage target materials such as recyclables, organics, bulky and problem wastes, and importantly examine our current services and possible waste processing activities into the future.

There will be many other ways the community will be consulted and able to participate throughout the Waste Strategy development process. This may include pop-up consultation stalls, targeted focus groups, “Have You Say” online opportunities and making more formal submissions on the draft Waste Strategy.

Nominees should have:

  • An interest in waste management, recycling and resource recovery;
  • A knowledge of the Shire and existing kerbside domestic waste services; and
  • Be available and prepared to attend Waste Working Group activities during business and after hours as required.
