Bushfire Prone Land Map
In August 2002, the State Government introduced legislation to improve the protection of life and property from the threat of bushfire. The legislative requirements include the release of Planning for Bushfire protection and the mapping of bushfire prone areas within the Shire. A revised version of Planning for Bushfire Protection was released in December 2006. For more information visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.
The mapping of bushfire prone area of the Shire was undertaken in accordance with the guidelines prepared by the NSW Rural Fire Service. The map also includes a buffer zone that extends up to 100m beyond the areas that may be directly affected by bushfire to take into account factors such as ember attack and exposure to radiant heat.
