Neighbourhood Noise
The Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 gives councils, the police and the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW) the authority to investigate and take action where offensive noise is created.
However, neighbourhood noise, such as noise from animals, alarms, machines and parties can often be stopped without involving your council, the police or DECCW.
