Aerosol Art

Aerosol Art vs. GraffitiEV-Spray-Art-Workshop

Aerosol Art is art using aerosol spray cans on walls or boards — where permission has been sought and granted.

Graffiti, ‘tagging’ or ‘bombing’, is illegal vandalism and causes thousands of dollars in damage to public and private property.

Hornsby Council does not encourage illegal graffiti.

But we do want young people to get involved in our legal Aerosal Art programs!

By taking part in our Aerosol Art programs, young people can spray paint attractive, colourful and positive murals for the community to enjoy at these locations:

  • Greenway Park, Cherrybrook
  • Ruddock Park, Westleigh EV-Aerosol-Art-wall

The walls are for young people to share. When an artwork
is completed the artist sprays the date next to it — so others
know to leave it untouched for at least a week.

All we ask is that:

  • Nothing offensive to any gender, community, race or creed is painted.
  • Empty spray cans go into the bins provided.
  • The walls are the only things painted on.

Please be aware it is illegal for a store to sell paint to persons under 18 years of age. You may also risk a $220 fine if you take spray cans on public transport — if you are concerned, contact our youth workers and they will give you some tips on transportation.
