What is the Service?
The Service provides small-scale modification and maintenance works that assist frail aged, people with a disability or people who care for an aged person or an adult or child with a disability to continue living safely in their own homes for as long as possible.
Who can receive this service?
You must be living in the local government areas of Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai.
When is it available?
Monday to Friday
Requests for service can be made between 8:30am – 4:00pm.

How does it operate?
The work is completed by highly professional licensed carpentry, plumbing and electrical contractors with many years experience in the building trade.
The work may include individual items or combinations of the following:
- Grab rails
- Hand rails
- Outside rails
- Hand held showers
- Ramps/wedges
- Bed/chair & risers
- Maintenance work including minor electrical, minor plumbing and carpentry.
What will it cost to receive this service?
Modifications – Income Assessed
Maintenance – Hourly rates plus full cost for materials
Estimates are prepared prior to any work being started and the client advised the cost. The Service is able to offer a limited subsidy towards the work. Costs should not prevent prospective clients from accessing the Service as its Team Leader is able to negotiate alternate arrangements based on financial circumstances.

How can I request this service?
All modifications must be recommended for individuals by an Occupational Therapist prior to a referral being forwarded to the Service.
Occupational Therapists are located in private practice and at public and private hospitals or by contacting the Aged Community Assessment Team (ACAT) at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Department of Rehabilitation and Aged Care on (02) 9477 9711.
Doctors, friends, relatives, carers, self-referrals or other individuals may make referrals for maintenance.
