Surveys
Council conducts periodical independent surveys to gauge the community's satisfaction with our services and facilities. Some of the topics addressed in these surveys include:
- residents' awareness of Council's services
- how much importance residents place on Council services
- residents' opinions of Council's performance
- attitudes towards key local issues
Council uses these surveys in considering its future direction, reshaping its services, deciding funding priorities and reviewing consultation strategies.

Community Survey 2009
Council undertook community engagement research in June 2009 to seek the views of the 'silent majority' on a range of issues including:
- What people like and value about living in the Shire
- How people want to be engaged and involved in the affairs and decisions of Council
- How much engagement people want
- Where the community would like Council to focus its efforts
- The most effective ways for the community to find out about council news and events etc.
The research included focus groups to give more detail on the qualitative data. The focus group report commences on page 64 of the full report and gives insightful information on how the community views the organisation.
