The crown jewel of Hornsby Shire’s parks, covering 55 hectares that include a range of attractions for everybody.Fagan Park

Open hours: 7am until sunset (6:30pm during daylight savings)
Open days: open every day except Christmas day

Note: the playground at Fagan Park – Carrs Road is unavailable until 30 June 2018 due to scheduled upgrades.  The playground at Arcadia Road is still available.

There are two car parks, one off Arcadia Rd at the main park entrance, and another off Carrs Rd. Parking costs $5 per vehicle. Please note there is no refund for entering via the wrong car park.

Car Parking Permit

An annual pass is available for private vehicles up to 8 seats. The permit gives access to the Arcadia Road and Carrs Road car parks for $40 per annum. To be eligible to apply for an Annual Pass you must have a valid Hornsby Shire residential address.

Attractions and activities

  • Enjoy a picnic or barbecue, with a number of shelters and electric barbecues that accept $1 coins scattered throughout the grounds.
  • Relax with a coffee from the coffee cart, which is open on weekends and every day during school holidays.
  • Explore the Gardens of Many Nations, which covers 10 hectares and has 11 themed gardens, including Japanese, Dutch, Chinese and Mediterranean.
  • Learn more about local history at Netherby Cottage, the original Fagan family homestead, and the adjoining museum.
  • Let the kids run free at the two large playgrounds, while there’s also plenty of open space for kite flying and other games.
  • Take in the local bushland along a short bushwalking trail.
  • Jump on a bike and explore the grounds along the bicycle paths.
  • Host an event by hiring one of the five large picnic shelters that are perfect for birthdays and other social events. Each garden in the Gardens of Many Nations can also be hired for weddings (see below for more information).
  • Learn about sustainable gardening at the Eco Garden.
  • Take your dog for a walk, however dogs must remain on a lead at all times.

Fagan Park was originally owned by the Fagan family and operated as an orchard and cattle farm. The site was donated by the Fagan family to the Department of Lands, with Hornsby Shire Council appointed as sole trustee for the park.

The park was adopted as Council's bicentennial project and was officially opened in November, 1988.

Picnic shelters

Fagan Park has five large picnic shelters available for hire. The shelters are perfect for events such as family reunions, birthday parties, Christmas parties, school outings and company picnics. Each booking costs $135 per day or part of a day.

Wedding photography

Fagan Park provides various stunning backdrops for your wedding photos. By making a booking, you are able to use any area or garden in Fagan Park, provided there is no function taking place in that location.

Wedding photo bookings are available between 8am and 3:30pm. Arrangements can be made for bookings later in the afternoon, however this will require an additional fee.

Gardens for weddings

Fagan Park has many different gardens that are ideal for wedding ceremonies. They are available between 7am and 3:30pm and can be booked for two-hour blocks. They cannot be booked for other events.
