The Hornsby Library online Catalogue contains all the books, DVDs, magazines and other items held in the five Hornsby Shire libraries. To find the items currently held by the libraries, go to the Catalogue and search by title, author, etc.

In addition to the items held in libraries, we also provide access to a wide range of information held in databases and other electronic format. See Online resources for more details and access to these resources.

Catalogue services

The following services are available to customers who wish to reserve an item or transfer it to a more convenient Hornsby Shire library.

Reserving an item

If you Find the item that you want in the Catalogue, but it is on loan or on order, you can reserve it. Reservations can be made in the following ways:-

through the Online Catalogue: click the 'Reserve Title' link on the item record in the Item List

in person at any of the five Hornsby Shire libraries

by telephone.

Please note:

you will need your library card number to place a reservation

if reserving through the Online Catalogue you will need your PIN as well as your library card number

if you are not a member of the library, you will need to join online before reserving an item

there is a non-refundable $2.50 fee for each item reserved

items that are heavily reserved may be subject to a shortened loan period.

Branch transfer

If you search the catalogue and find that the item you want is listed with a status of "available", you can request us, either by telephone or in person, to deliver it to any Hornsby Shire library, usually within 24 hours. You will not be notified when the item arrives at your nominated branch (you will simply collect it from the circulation desk), but there is no charge for this service. This service is not available for items with a call number of PB or P.
