  • Go to the Library Homepage
  • Click on Online Resources from Home or Online Resources @ the Library
  • If working from home, enter your library card and PIN.
  • If you do not know your PIN, contact Hornsby Library on (02)9847 6614
  • Click on a subject from the subject list. Choose Animals, Encyclopedias, Environment, Geography History or Science
  • Click on the title you want to search

Classroom Antarctica
This site is produced by the Australian Antarctic Division and is a comprehensive teaching resource aimed at students from Years 5-8. It provides information on the continent, exploring and living and working in Antarctica, as well as nature – flora and fauna and our responsibilities in looking after Antarctica. The site also has a great list of links to other websites with information about Antarctica.

Discovering Antarctica
Contains interactive teaching and learning resources on Antarctica, it also explores all aspects of life on Antarctica. The website covers areas such as: Imagining Antarctica; A changing climate; Beneath the waves; Journey south; Living there today; and The Antarctic Treaty. Each section features activities, images, video clips and fact sheets to help you learn about this distant, frozen wilderness.

Australian Antarctic Division
This is the official Australian government site for Antarctica. This site has great fact files on geography and geology, flora and fauna, and links to more information.

CIA Factbook
Lists population, government, military, and economic information for nations recognized by the United States.

Cool Antarctica
Covers the effects of global warming on Antarctica
