The Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations Inc. (AFFHO) is the umbrella organisation for family history societies in Australia.

Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies
The Family History Unit is jointly funded by the Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and AIATSIS, as part of the Recommendations from the Bringing Them Home Report.

Australian Shipping Arrivals and Departures, 1788 to 1968
Web site, listing shipping arrivals and shipping departures for Australia and New Zealand. The site contains passenger arrival details for various ports around Australia, they also include some passenger lists and occasional crew list details for some of the ships.

The website of the Australian War Memorial has and an extensive archive and on-line databases available for family history research.

Convict Transportation Registers Database
The British Convict transportation registers 1787-1867 database has been compiled from the British Home Office (HO) records which are available on microfilm.  You can find details for over 123 000 of the estimated 160 000 convicts transported to Australia in the 18th and 19th centuries - names, term of years, transport ships and more.

National Archives of Australia
The National Archives holds an abundance of material of interest to family historians. They hold some colonial records, but most of the records were created during the 20th century, reflecting the growing involvement by the federal government in the lives of individuals throughout this century.

NSW Government Gazette 1836 - 1859
Family History Certificates are available to anyone if the event occurred for Births 100 years ago or more, Deaths 30 years ago or more and Marriages 50 years ago or more.

Nominal Roll of Vietnam Veterans
Government website listing aprroximately 61,000 men and women who served in Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in Vietnam, or in the waters adjacent to Vietnam, during the conflict between 23 May 1962 and 29 April 1975.

World War 2 Nominal Roll
The World War Two Nominal Roll was created to honour and commemorate the men and women who served in Australia's defence forces and the Merchant Navy during this conflict. The site contains information from the service records of some one million individuals.

World War II Refugees to Australia
These passenger lists contain individuals and families that migrated to Australia before, during and after World War II from various European Countries including Germany, Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, etc. Most passengers are World War II refugees or displaced persons.
