Request an Item Not Held


If you have searched our catalogue and not found what you want, you can submit a:

Suggestion for Purchase. This service is free. We will consider your suggestion. You will not be notified of our decision, but you can check our responses to the requests received.


Request for Purchase and Reservation. To use this service, you need to be a library member and log on using your membership number and PIN. If we purchase the item we will reserve it for you at a cost of $2.50. If we cannot purchase the item we will contact you.


Request for an Item from Another Library Service. To use this service, you need to be a library member and log on using your membership number and PIN. There is a cost of $3.50 per request, and an additional charge of up to $16.50 for items supplied by non-public libraries. Some public libraries also charge an additional fee of approximately $6.00 per request. If you are prepared to pay an additional fee, please indicate the maximum amount you are willing to pay in the notes field on the form. 

Please note that we cannot make a request from another library for fiction titles published within the last 2 years, or non-fiction titles published within the last year. For these items, choose Request for Purchase and Reservation or use the Suggestion for Purchase form.


Request for a Magazine/Journal Article. To use this service, you need to be a library member and enter your membership number on the form.

First check our e-journal portal for articles freely available online at Hornsby Library. There is a cost of $3.50 per article, and an additional charge of up to $16.50 for articles of less than 50 pages supplied by non-public libraries. Some public libraries also charge an additional fee of approximately $6.00 per article. Please indicate on the form under Additional Comments whether you agree to pay the additional fee.
