Environmental monitoring in the Hawkesbury River
Estuarine health is directly influenced by the quantity and quality of water entering the estuary at the upper catchment, along the shoreline through run-off, at the estuary mouth through oceanic tidal interchange and through groundwater. Hornsby Shire Council is proactively monitoring the Lower Hawkesbury River through the on-going water quality monitoring program and the deployment of a number of water quality instruments as explained in the following sections.
