State of the Environment Reporting
State of the Environment (SoE) reporting is a continuous process that provides Council with a sound, reliable and up-to-date basis for informed decision-making on environmental management. State of the Environment Reports provide a summary of the physical and social condition of the Shire and the human impacts on our environment. It also provides a public record of the activities Council, businesses and the community have undertaken to protect and restore the environment. Council uses this information to develop corporate environmental strategies within its Management Plan.
In recognition of their significant role in environmental management at the local level, local councils in NSW are required by legislation (Local Government Act 1993) to produce annual SoE reports.
