Properties near water

River side areas serve many important functions, including purifying water by removing sediments and other contaminants; reducing the risk of flooding and associated damage; reducing erosion; increasing available water and stream flow duration by holding water in stream banks; supporting a diversity of plant and wildlife species; and maintaining a healthy habitat for native animals and fish.

The Riparian Species List - 18kb has been compiled for residents who plan to plant near creeks and rivers.
