Native Plant Giveaways
Council holds several open days and native plant giveaways each year.
Using local native plants in your garden can attract native wildlife, are better suited to the local soil type and require less water than introduced plants.
Open days in 2012
Please note, all open days for 2011 have now passed.
Saturday 24 March 2012, 1pm - 3pm
Location: Council's Community Nursery, 28 Britannia St, Pennant Hills. Conditions apply (see below). Ratepayers from the following suburbs only are invited to pickup four free native plants:
- Beecroft
- Carlingford
- Castle Hill
- Cheltenham
- Epping
- Eastwood
- Glenhaven
- Pennant Hills
- North Epping
- West Pennant Hills
Saturday 21 April 2012, 1pm - 3pm
Location: Council's Community Nursery, 28 Britannia St, Pennant Hills. Conditions apply (see below). Ratepayers from the following suburbs only are invited to pickup four free native plants:

- Brooklyn
- Cowan
- Dangar Island

Saturday 22 September 2012, 1pm - 3pm
Location: Picnic shed at Galston Recreation Reserve (next to Galston Aquatic Centre), Galston Road, Galston. Conditions apply (see below). Ratepayers from the following suburbs only are invited to pickup six free native plants:

Saturday 3 November 2012, 1pm - 3pm
Location: Community Nursery 28 Britannia St, Pennant Hills. Conditions apply (see below). Ratepayers from the following suburbs only are invited to pickup four free native plants:
- Cherrybrook
- Normanhurst
- Thornleigh
- Wahroonga
- Waitara
- Westleigh
Conditions
- Current rates notices and appropriate identification must be shown on the day to be eligible for plants.
- Plants can only be issued to the residents named on the rates notice and are strictly four (suburban areas) or six (rural areas) plants per household.
- Residents from outside these areas identified are NOT entitled to free plants at this time
- Hornsby Shire residents are only eligible for plants.
- Limited stock available on the day.
