Conditions of Use

Hornsby Shire Council welcomes contributions that stimulate debate and discussion, as well as provide useful information to share. In turn, you are expected to treat fellow contributors with courtesy and respect.

You may contribute to Hornsby Shire Council's online discussion forums subject to the following terms and conditions.

General

  • Children's contributions should be supervised by an adult.
  • You may be held legally responsible for the content you submit to ABC Online.
  • All material published on Hornsby Shire Council's online discussion forums is at Hornsby Councils' sole discretion.
  • Your contribution may be edited, removed or not published at Hornsby Shire Council's sole discretion. As a guide, it is unacceptable to submit material that is:
    • defamatory, or otherwise unlawful or that violates laws regarding harassment, discrimination, privacy or contempt
    • intentionally false or misleading
    • an infringement of intellectual property rights or copyright
    • abusive or offensive, including obscenity, blasphemy and racial vilification
    • of nuisance value, inappropriate, off the topic or vexatious
    • compromising to the privacy of yourself, other contributors or Council staff, or containing inappropriate personal information
    • seeking to endorse commercial products or activities or to solicit business
    • deliberately provoking of other community members
    • a posting on behalf of a suspended member. This may lead to you also having your membership locked.
  • Hornsby Shire Council reserves the right to archive and republish all contributions to its online discussion forums.
  • Hornsby Shire Council reserves the right to use contributions for internal training purposes.
  • Repeated breaches of these Conditions of Use may cause Hornsby Shire Council to complain to the Internet Service Provider of the person responsible, and in very serious cases, initiate legal action.
